Trade-Up Program

What is "trading-up"?

If you're currently using a T60 or T61 laptop, you have the opportunity to trade in your current model for a credit on your student account toward the purchase of the Fall 2009 Mobile Computing Package, which includes the Lenovo ThinkPad W500.

Act now!

This year's laptop trade-up program coming to a close, so if you have a T60 or T61 and would like to trade up your laptop, you need to act quickly! Please visit the VCC Help Desk, located on the main level of the Voorhees Computing Center, by 4:00pm on Friday, September 11 to complete the necessary trade-up and order forms.

Students who take advantage of this trade-up opportunity will have a short period of time to transfer their data from one laptop to the new W500 system. All trade up laptops must be returned by Wednesday, September 16 in order to receive credit for this offer.

Note that T61 laptops are beginning the third year of the three-year manufacturer's warranty and ThinkPad protection. Please check Lenovo's website to find out the expiration date of your warranty.

  • If you trade in a T60, the W500 package will cost $1,575.
  • If you trade in a T61, the W500 package will cost $1,425.

Full price for the W500 package is $1,825.

To trade-up your laptop, you must complete both the trade-up form and the purchase form.

How to maximize your laptop credit

The credit amounts shown above are for laptops in excellent condition. To get the highest credit for your laptop, at the very least, you must:

  • Make sure that your laptop is clean, in good working condition, and includes all its parts.
  • Make sure the laptop case is intact and free of stickers and/or engraving. If the system has been damaged or has missing parts, you will not receive the full credit for it.
  • Have any warranty repairs done before the warranty expires.
  • Return the battery, CD/DVD drive, AC adapter and power cord. (You do not have to return the backpack, ethernet cable, or security cable.)

If you have any questions, please contact the Mobile Computing team.
