Freshmen

All incoming undergraduate students are required to have a laptop computer.

A packet with details and ordering information will be mailed to you at the end of June. Please wait for this packet.

Juniors
(Third-year students)

While a two-year refresh is not a requirement, students will benefit from beginning the third year at Rensselaer with an entirely new laptop computer, the best way to keep pace with rapidly changing technology. Note that each year the minimum specs for the laptop computer only apply to incoming students. Please keep in mind that the warranty for your laptop is for three years (battery for one year).

Other Students

Each year, every matriculated student is allowed to purchase one laptop computer through the Mobile Computing Program.

This information also applies to MBA students in the Lally School who are required to have a laptop computer.
