NEW - Fall Laptop Distribution Information

Please select your Rensselaer status below to learn about the options available to you.

Freshmen All incoming undergraduate students are required to have a laptop computer.

Juniors (Third-year students) If you leased a laptop in the Fall of 1999, note that the lease term ends at the beginning of the Fall 2001 semester. If you are currently leasing a laptop computer, you must continue to fulfill the requirements of the lease, even if you decide to purchase the new model. While a two-year refresh is not a requirement, students will benefit from beginning the third year at Rensselaer with an entirely new laptop computer, the best way to keep pace with rapidly changing technology. Note that each year the minimum specs for the laptop computer only apply to incoming students. Please keep in mind that the warranty on the laptop is for three years (battery for one year).

Other Students Each year, every matriculated student is allowed to purchase one laptop computer through the Mobile Computing Program.

Questions about your laptop status? You can go to the Student Information System to find out under what conditions you acquired your laptop. After logging in, you will have the option to select "View Your Laptop Status" on the Student Menu. Information will not be included about Fall 2001 laptops until after classes begin.
