Chemistry and Chemical Biology Seminar Series: Spring 2008
Time: 4 p.m. (Refreshments at 3:45 p.m.) Place: Darrin Communications Center, room 324 (unless otherwise noted)
Friday, February 8 Marianne Nyman (RPI) “Peroxy-Acid Treatment Approach to Remediation of Contaminated Sediments and Soils”
Bruggeman Room, CBIS
Tuesday, February 12
Michael Morris (University of Michigan) “Raman Spectroscopy, Imaging and Tomography of Bone and Cartilage”
Raman spectroscopy has emerged as a powerful tool to study the development, function and pathology of bone and cartilage. We will describe applications to biomineralization, to biomechanics and to the pathology of both bone and cartilage. We will highlight the most recent advances in subsurface spectroscopy and tomography, which enable non-invasive and minimally invasive diagnostics for metabolic diseases and genetic defects of these tissue.
