Secondary treatment at the Glens Falls plant utilizes the activated sludge
process, which is a biological contact process. The aeration tanks (to the right
of the picture) are designed to allow Conventional, Incremental Feed, Step
Aeration, and Contact Stabilization operation modes. There are two aeration
units at the plant. Each of these units contains three tanks that are 90 feet
wide by 143 feet long by 18.5 feet deep.
