Dynamic Analysis of Microbial Processes

Very tiny (capillary) microelectrodes for dissolved oxygen can have a sensing tip as small as 0.5 µ m. We used a tip of 4 µ m with a response time of about 0.2 s. Light causes photosynthetic evolution of oxygen. Sinusoidal forcing of light was achieved with polarizers, one of which was rotated at a fixed angular velocity.

We estimated time constants for photosynthesis but failed to identify the corresponding biochemical steps.
