Animation of a gear pump
Only one gear needs to be driven on a shaft connected to a motor. It will engage and turn the other gear. No fluid can pass through the center where the gears mesh, but fluid is carried in the teeth of the gears as they turn through the housing. Verify that the arrow showing direction of flow is correct.
