Secondary Active Transport or Co-Transport
This is an example of epithelial cells of the brush border lining the intestine.
1) Na+K+ ATPase transports out Na+ to the blood
2) Na+ can diffuse in from the intestine only with a co-transported amino aicd or glucose molecule
3) Glucose diffuses from the cell to the blood through facilitated diffusion
See model!
Co-transport is active transport driven by facilitated transport.
