Stability
The stability of the enzymes
can be expected to change upon immobilization. It will increase if
the carrier provides a micro environment capable of stabilizing the enzyme
and decrease if the carrier is capable of denaturing the enzymatic protein.
It has been found that enzymes coupled with inorganic carriers are generally
more stable than those attached to organic polymers. Stability with
respect to denaturing agents (agents that will affect the stability
of proteins) may also be changed upon immobilization.
