Are there any foreseeable problems in making a commercial product with this technology?

Maybe. The immobilized enzyme test strips were stored at 4oC for a maximum of three hours prior to use. Dry test strips stored at this temperature overnight lost as much as 40% of their original activity. Longer term storage conditions have not been investigated, but if this rate of decline in activity continued with time, long-term storage would be a serious problem. More stable systems could, of course, be developed.
