Enterance to the Composting System
The facility has six channels about 150 feet long 5 feet wide and 3 feet deep.
The mixture of sludge and yard waste is approximately 40% solid and is moved by
a rototiller down the channel. The
above picture shows the starting mixture of sludge and yard wastes. The channel is equipped with
thermocouples in the walls that monitor the temperature within the piles. If
the temperature should become to hot the blowers are triggered and air is fed
into the channel to cool the pile.
