Fuzzy Sets

Fuzzy sets take into account the gray area of data under consideration as opposed to a set being considered as simply true or false. In other words, fuzzy sets allow partial membership.

Example:A person from Siberia considers 45 degrees a comfortable temperature where as a person who lives in Fiji would say this is freezing.

This example illustrates that the assignment of membership in the set of warm people depends on who is determining what is warm or cold.
