Why baffles are needed
With no baffles, centrifugal force drives the swirling fluid toward the walls. Its level is higher than if
there were no mixing, so it falls into the open space (the vortex). This simple sliding or falling does
not create much turbulence or good mixing. Baffles minimize swirling. They are moving relative to the fluid, and it is like having more paddles for mixing.
