From Plant Entry to Combustion

The MSW is first offloaded from trucks in the tipping floor area into the refuse bunker . A grapple takes the MSW from the refuse bunker and places it into the feed chute. A hydraulic ram located at the bottom of the feed chute pushes the MSW on to a series of grates. The grates agitate the waste improving its ability to be combusted. When the waste is combusted flue gas and ash are produced. The grate is located on a decline to remove the ash that has settled back onto the grates during combustion. The falling ash is then quenched with water and pushed by a hydaulic ram into the ash discharger. The ash is then disposed of at a nearby landfill.
