MICROBIAL CELLULOSE REACTOR 2

Photo of our reactor at harvest time.

Compare this to competing processes:

  • Trays - no advantages over our disc reactor except perhaps slightly lower initial cost. This is outweighed by requiring much labor and by slower production.
  • Submerged culture - no pellicle is formed, so there are no gel applications. The yields may be better now, but the disk reactor has not yet been optimized. A major advantage is easy reactor scale up. The product is different from the gel; these are some applications in which the gel amy compete with reticulated cellulose, but usually they will have different markets.
