As Gonzalo Serafica was completing his Ph.D., he devised a poster for potential investors invited to R.P.I.

An alumnus who has created several companies was intrigued with microbial cellulose.

As partners in a company called Xylos, they developed a wound dressing for extensive testing on animals and humans.

Wounds heal in one-half the time of competing products.

Good moisture regulation.

Full FDA approval.

Not bad for former student six years past his Ph.D., but keyed to his experience in the Philippines.
