Environmental considerations

Most polymers come from chemical processes that generate large amounts of heat and that discharge dangerous pollutants. Natural polymers made from renewable materials are much more environmentally friendly. Although cellulosic polymers bring to mind Rayon that is no longer an important polymer, new forms of stronger cellulose and novel ways of making cellulosic composites should create much superior polymers with new applications.
