Hemicellulases
These have minor importance for hydrolysis of trees or other biomass because hemicellulose is very
easy to hydrolyze compared to cellulose. However, hemicellulases are a great aid in the pulping
of wood. The enzymatic process has become the industry standard and has markedly reduced pollution.
Cellulases
The large improvement in potency and lowering of cost has increased industrial use of
cellulases. One major use in softening of blue jean denim.
