How much is there?
Biomass is probably the most underutilized renewable resource in the U.S. today. Biomass currently provides about 4% of the energy produced in the U.S., and it could easily supply 20%. In other words, due to the available land and agricultural infrastructure this country has, biomass could, sustainably, replace all of the power nuclear plants generate without a major impact on food prices. Furthermore, biomass used to produce ethanol could reduce our oil imports upwards of 50%!
