Father
And so the end of the
Church’s liturgical year has come and we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the
King. In the Church’s
calendar a recent feast (1925) but in the history of our family of faith most
ancient. In so many ways this day
is tied to the Ascension of Jesus where He reigns over all. Contemporary ideas and language often fail to
convey the realities of our great mysteries of faith. It is easiest to say – Jesus is the Messiah,
now living in eternity with God, is in all, through all and with all as
Lord. Thus, we must celebrate.
OUR THANKSGIVING LITURGY will be celebrated this Wednesday evening, 25 November, at 6:15 pm.
This is to be followed by a soup/bread/salad/dessert meal. We are asking for a can of a non-perishable food item from all attending. In addition, if coming, please bring a dessert. The rest will be supplied. If you have guests coming from out of town, please ask them to join us.
THERE
WILL BE NO DAILY MASS AT THE C+CC ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, 26/27 NOVEMBER.
FEAST
OF SAINT NICHOLAS / COFFEE HOUR ON 6 DECEMBER:
The bishop will be visiting here as we celebrate the Feast of Saint
Nicholas at the 10:30 am Mass. Some may remember him from last year. Please plan to bring your children,
grandchildren, nieces and nephews as we recall and celebrate our religious
heritage that gives meaning to our festive season. Nicholas will also host the Coffee Hour following
Mass.
LECTOR
BOOKS: The Lector books used to help in preparation for proclaiming “The Word” are now available. If
you can, we ask for a donation of $10 to cover the cost. This request should
not keep anyone from obtaining a book. Cycle C begins with the 1st Sunday of
Advent (29 November 2009). The books are
in the sacristy.
Next Sunday, the First Sunday of Advent, we will
have our “Blue Books”.
