Networking is a method by which you can broaden your employment chances by talking to people you already know to tell them that you are looking for work, and to find out about unadvertised and hidden job opportunities. Networking is also tapping into your connections for helpful information or advice.

A list of possible networking contacts can begin with family, friends, former co-workers/supervisors, professors, members of groups or clubs that you belong to or classmates.

Professional associations can put you in touch with other people in your field. If you need help identifying a good professional association in your field, ask your contacts who are in that field or consult the National Trade and Professional Associations directory in the CCPD Lounge.
