| Making the Most of Your Match Before Making Contact: Get Organized... Determine exactly what you hope to accomplish during your visit or when you make contact and prepare in advance your objectives and a list of questions. Your resume may provide a structure for the discussion, but prioritize areas that you would most like to explore. Research the company, industry or field in advance. Establish Rapport... This is an opportunity for you to gain valuable career wisdom and knowledge from someone working in the field who has volunteered their valuable time for your benefit. Your mentor is a member of your professional network...make an effort to become familiar with him/her and take a sincere interest in the advice and information offered. |

| Make a Good Impression... Be prepared with questions, bring a copy of your resume with you and be sure to take notes. Ask permission to keep them informed of your progress and contact them should you have additional questions or concerns. After Making Contact: Send a Thank You Letter... Within 24 hours of meeting with your mentor, send a letter expressing your appreciation for their time and effort. Comment on what made your visit unique and/or particularly helpful. Give Feedback... Keep the CDC informed on the progress of your visits. We would like to hear about your experiences as a participant and would appreciate your feedback and any comments you may have.
