| Co-op Information for Environmental Engineering Majors Students should consult with their academic advisor well in advance of starting a co-op assignment, and should obtain the advisor's signature on the Co-op Work Plan. After completion of a Co-op assignment, students should consult with their academic advisor prior to registering for courses. All required courses for Environmental Engineering majors are offered only once per year, and in a specific semester. This poses scheduling problems, therefore careful planning is essential. Below is a plan incorporating a Co-op assignment that allows degree completion at the normally scheduled time. If a student elects to take a Co-op assignment at a time other than the pattern given below, it is suggested that s/he take a continuous assignment for the whole academic year (e.g., the junior year). Upon the student's return to Rensselaer, s/he would be required to complete all remaining academic courses. Recommended Schedule for Environmental Engineering Students: Freshman Spring: Standard Sophomore Spring: Standard Sophomore Summer Session II or III: Technical & H&SS Electives Junior Spring: Co-op Assignment Junior Summer: Co-op Assignment Senior Fall Courses: CHME 4010, CHEM 4400, ENVE 4350, ENVE 4150, ENVE 4170, ENVE 4330 Senior Spring Courses: ENVE 4310, ENVE 4340, ENVE 4160, ENVE 4180, CHME 4020 Note: Academic credit is not granted for the Co-op experience. |
