Registering Your Co-op
Before leaving campus to start your co-op job, you must take the following steps to ensure that your co-op is properly registered with the CDC and the Registrar's Office.
Attend a mandatory Co-op Briefing Meeting (required for all students going out on co-op)
Submit your completed Co-op Work Plan to the Co-op Office with your academic advisor's signature prior to leaving campus. (International students also need written permission to co-op from the International Student Services' Office.)
Subscribe to Co-op Net, the Co-op Listserv, to receive important announcements and reminders from the Co-op staff.
If you are eligible for academic credit for co-op, make all the necessary arrangements with your advisor before leaving campus.
Check "Out" with the Rensselaer Residence Life Office or your landlord. Use our Relocation Resources to help you find housing while you are on your co-op assignment.
De-register for classes and register for Co-op Industrial Assignment on SIS using the appropriate CRN found in the Class Hour Schedule.
(Hartford students must contact the Hartford Registrar's Office and fill out a Registration Form.)
NOTE: Know your rights and responsibilities. Be sure to read Terms of Understanding. Pick up your copy in the CDC.
Legal Issues: You may be asked by your Co-op Employer to sign documents prior to beginning your co-op assignment. To become more informed on this topic, please review the following Co-op Legal Advice documentation provided to you by the CDC.
