Our Mission:
The mission of the Career Development Center is to be a catalyst in the development of Rensselaer students to become world leaders in a technologically based global economy. Our goals are to provide programs and services to assist students in discovering and clarifying career choices, and to teach them to manage their careers effectively.
The Career Development Center is committed to cultivating and advancing partnerships with students, faculty, staff, alumni and employers to carry out our mission. We're dedicated to continuously improving our customer services and to assuming leadership in the profession of career development.
To fulfill its goals, the Career Development Center provides students with:
* Resources for self-assessment, personal and leadership development.
* Career counseling, exploration, and career management education.
* Access to quality experiential opportunities through cooperative education, summer employment, and internship opportunities.
* Educational programming through which students can develop techniques and skills for implementing a successful job search campaign.
* Access to post-graduation opportunities.
* The application of technological tools to carry out a successful job search campaign.
Recommendations for First Year Students:
- Get to Know the Staff of the CDC…Come visit us early and often! Daily walk-in appointments are available or schedule a longer appointment to discuss your career interests and goals.
- Attend CDC Programs and Workshops…Designed with you in mind to help you explore your options and clarify your career interests.
- Activate your CDC online account through RedHawk Joblink…You’ll be able to view summer and co-op job postings and also participate in On-Campus Recruiting. Another great advantage is receiving emails from us about upcoming events, career fairs and employer visits to campus.
Important Dates to Remember:
- Fall 2008: On-Campus Recruiting begins on October 6, 2008 - Encourage your son/daughter to activate their RedHawk JobLink online account before recruiting begins in October. S/he can begin viewing job opportunities as early as August. Fall is a great time to begin a summer, co-op or full-time job search!
- Co-op General Meetings…If you are thinking about going out on a Co-op Assignment during your time at Rensselaer, come meet the Co-op staff and former Co-op students to find out why co-op is so great and how to get involved.
- CDC Spring 2009 Career Fair - January 27th, 2009, AS &RC, 12-5pm. All Rensselaer students, all majors welcome!
