Beginning Wednesday, June 11th, construction of the infrastructure for new parking lot access control gates will begin. The work will involve trenching for conduits from nearby buildings to gate locations and then construction of the concrete islands for the gates in roadways and/or parking lots will follow. Areas that will be affected are the entrance to West Lot, North Lot (entrances from both Sage Ave. and Peoples Ave.), the entrance to the campus between Ricketts and the 87 Gym, the parking lot between the VIC and Mueller Center, and Griswold Road between the VIC lot and Hall Hall (south of the crosswalk and wood stairway).
Gates are also being installed at the entrance to the new Academy Hall parking lot and are being done along with the construction that is now occurring for that lot. There may be instances of minor inconvenience with truck and back-hoe movement as the work progresses. However access to the lots will be available at all times during the construction. Please exercise caution as necessary.
It is anticipated that the work will span over the course of the next 8 weeks, but it will be phased and not create a continuous inconvenience.
The gates will be similar to those installed at parking garages, the airport or Thruway. Everyone designated to park in a particular lot(s) will be issued a transponder to open the gate upon entering. It is similar to “E-Z Pass” technology. Details will follow in the near future.
Questions related to the construction should be addressed to Ed Staats at extension 8249. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
