Bringing Parallel Adaptive Simulation to Industry

Consideration is given to the issues associated with increasing the ability of industry to perform complex simulations using adaptive analysis tools operating on massively parallel computers. These issues are discussed within the context of RPI's efforts through the High Performance Computing Consortium with New York State industrial partners to address problems involving multi-phase flows, analysis on complex geometry with rotating components, and high viscosity thin sheet flows.


Mr. Smith is a computational scientist at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is working half time at the Computational Center for Nanotechnology Innovations (CCNI) and half time at Scientific Computation Research Center (SCOREC) with expertise in simulation automation, parallel computation, and multiscale simulation.
