Director James W. Modestino The Center for Image Processing Research (CIPR) conducts a range of research and academic programs in image and video processing. Faculty participants are drawn from a number of academic disciplines and, together with their students, provide the nucleus for ongoing activities within CIPR. In addition to providing an intellectual focus for image-processing activities at Rensselaer, the objectives of the center are: to provide a positive impact on graduate and undergraduate programs, to support ongoing activities with a world-class infrastructure, and to enhance our reputation as one of the premier image-processing research centers in the world. Active research areas being pursued in the CIPR include image modeling, computer vision and image analysis, image and video enhancement and reconstruction, biomedical image processing, computer graphics, computational geometry, image and video compression and transmission, visualization and display techniques, and multimedia systems.
