DEFINITION:

Capital Equipment: Any movable asset (each item)

valued at $3,000 or more
with a useful life of 1 year or more
not permanently affixed to a building

USE PROPERTY ACCOUNT CODES:

175	Non-Federally Funded Capital Equipment (excluding computer equipment):
	Capital equipment purchased with other than federal funds (funds not beginning with A1, A3, B1, B3 or 9). Examples: office workstation, copier, audio visual equipment, scientific apparatus, etc.
176	Non-Federally Funded Capital Equipment (computer equipment only):
	Capital computer equipment purchased with other than federal funds (funds not beginning with A1, A3, B1, B3, or 9). Examples: computer, server, etc.
178	Federally Funded Capital Equipment (excluding computer equipment):
	Capital equipment purchased with federal funds (most funds begin with A1, A3, B1, B3). Examples: office workstation, copier, audio visual equipment, scientific apparatus, etc.
173	Federally Funded Capital Equipment (computer equipment only):
	Capital computer equipment purchased with federal funds (most funds begin with A1, A3, B1, B3). Examples: computer, monitor, server, etc.
179	Plant Fund Capital Equipment (including computer equipment):
	Capital equipment purchased with any plant fund (all funds begin with a 9). Examples: office workstation, copier, audio visual equipment, scientific apparatus, computer, server, etc.

CAPITAL EQUIPMENT FABRICATION PURCHASES

DEFINITION:

Capital Equipment: Any movable asset (each item)

valued at $3,000 or more
with a useful life of 1 year or more
not permanently affixed to a building

Fabrication Part: Multiple pieces to make up an item of capital equipment

purchased from one or more sources which form a single item
with a total of $3,000 or more
with a useful life of 1 year or more

USE PROPERTY ACCOUNT CODES:

177F	Non-Federally Funded Fabrication Parts:
	Capital equipment fabrication parts purchased with other than federal funds (funds not beginning with A1, A3, B1, B3 or 9).
17AF	Federally Funded Fabrication Parts:
	Capital equipment fabrication parts purchased with federal funds (most funds begin with A1, A3, B1, B3).
179F	Plant Funded Fabrication Parts:
	Capital equipment fabrication parts purchased with any plant fund (all funds begin with a 9).

DEFINITION:

Capital Equipment: Any movable asset (each item)

valued at $3,000 or more
with a useful life of 1 year or more
not permanently affixed to a building

Component Part - Any Items

at any value
which adds to or enhances an existing piece of capital equipment

USE PROPERTY ACCOUNT CODES:

177	Non-Federally Funded Component Parts:
	Capital equipment component parts purchased with other than federal funds (funds not beginning with A1, A3, B1, B3 or 9). Examples: harddrive, memory or modem, ordered to enhance an existing piece of capital equipment or software which has a signed license and renewable maintenance associated with it (excludes off the shelf software - See Software under Non-Capital Equipment Purchases).
17A	Federally Funded Component Parts:
	Capital equipment component parts purchased with federal funds (most funds begin with A1, A3, B1, B3). NON CAPITAL EQUIPMENT PURCHASES

DEFINITION:

Non Capital Equipment: Any movable asset

valued at less than $3,000 unless it is a fabrication or component part
not permanently affixed to a building

USE PROPERTY ACCOUNT CODE:

006	Non Capital Equipment
	Non Capital equipment valued at less than $3,000. Examples include a fax machine, table, chair, computer, monitor, printer valued at less than $3,000.

SOFTWARE

DEFINITION:

Software: Any off-the-shelf software

without a signed license agreement and renewable maintenance

USE PROPERTY ACCOUNT CODE:

007	Software
	Examples include Microsoft Office, Excel, Anti-Virus software, etc.

COMPUTER SUPPLIES

DEFINITION:

Computer related supplies

USE PROPERTY ACCOUNT CODE:

008	Computer related supplies such as:
	diskettes, cables, power strips, etc.
