Cytochrome P450
PDB file 2BMH
Structure of the hemoprotein domain of cytochrome P450 from Bacillus magaterium, solved by H. Li & T. L. Poulos in 1994.
Suggested display options:
To distinguish the 2 copies of the enzyme, color chain.
Select hetero-ligand, display as spacefill
or ball & stick, with color
CPK.
Zoom in close to view the heme structure.
To see the cysteine axial ligand, use the command line to select cys400, and display as spacefill with color CPK.
In many P450 enzymes a water oxygen occupies the
other axial ligand position, and is displaced when O2 binds.
Find out whether a water molecule is coordinated to the heme iron in this case.
