Student Login Help

The normal process for a student getting added to a WebCT course is that once a student is registered, the student will be automatically added to the WebCT course within a day of being added to the college registration system. Of course, if the instructor has not set up a WebCT site, then the student will not have a WebCT site for that course.

If you are unable to login to your WebCTcourse, there are 6 possible reasons:

(1) you are not registered in this course;

(2) the instructor for the course may not have a WebCT course site.

(3) you are trying to use an incorrect WebCT user name and password:

(4) You may not have changed your RCS password within the last 9 months or so.

If you had an RCS previous to this semester and have not changed your password in the last 9 months, then you must go through the process of changing your password so that your id and password will propagate to the server which authenticates WebCT users.

Go to the Password change web page and change it: https://www.cis.rpi.edu/AFS/campus/rpi/simon/web/1.0/cgi-bin/change_pw.html

You can 'change' it to what it currently is if you want to keep the same password.

After changing your password, be sure to close all browser windows before attempting to login to WebCT again. This makes sure the browser isn't still holding the old password.

Note: the password change may take up to an hour before it propagates across the network.

(5) you don't have a valid WebCT global id.

(6) If you can successfully login to your 'my WebCT' page, but don't see your course listed there, then you have not been added to that WebCT course yet.
