Student Login Instructions for WebCT
If your are a RSVP distance education student, go to: http://www.pde.rpi.edu/academics/schedule.shtml
If
you are not an RSVP distance education student then follow the directions
below.
If you successfully login to your 'my WebCT' page, then
locate the course title and click on it. This should take you to the
course home page.
If you are unable to login to your my WebCT page, then you may not have changed
your RCS password within the last 9 months or so. If you had an RCS previous
to this semester and have not changed your password in the last 9 months, then
you must go through the process of changing your password so that your id and
password will propagate to the server which authenticates webct users.
Go to the Password change web page and change it: https://www.cis.rpi.edu/AFS/campus/rpi/simon/web/1.0/cgi-bin/change_pw.htmlYou
can 'change' it to what it currently is if you want to keep the same password.
After changing your password, be sure to close all browser windows before attempting
to login to WebCT again. This makes sure the browser isn't still holding the
old password. Note: the password change may take up to an hour before it propagates
across the network.
If you have an RCS user id and password, then you can use the WebCT
student account utility to set up or check on your WebCT global id.
Once you have successfuly set up your WebCT account, try
logging in to your 'my WebCT' page again at:
http://webct.rpi.edu/webct/homearea/homearea using
your RCS id and password.
If you successfully login to your 'my WebCT' page, then locate the course title
and click on it. This should take you to the course home page.
If the course title does not appear on your 'my WebCT' page, then you may not
have been been added to the course yet. Ask your instructor (or TA) to add
your WebCT global id to the course. Once your WebCT global id has been added
to the course, login to your 'my WebCT' page again. The course title should
now be there. Click on the course title to access the course home page.
If you are unable to login to your 'my WebCT' page or the
course homepage, then look at the student
login help page. If you still have a problem,
then email webct-support@rpi.edu for assistance. You must
provide your full name, the course title, the course number,
and a description of the problem
