Reading Old Mail Messages (mail -f)

You can read old messages stored in your mbox file by adding -f to the mail command:
mail -f
After you type mail -f you will receive a message similar to the following:
/home/06/name/mbox: 2 messages
The messages in your mbox are listed, and the Mail System & prompt appears. You can use any of the Mail System commands to read, edit, or delete messages from mbox. When you are finished, use q to leave and update the file. If you want to read messages that have been saved in files other than mbox, add -f and the filename to the mail command. For example, to read messages in the file physics, enter:
mail -f physics
