Getting Started

This document should help you get started using a Rensselaer Computing System (RCS) UNIX workstation, which may be in the form of an IBM RS/6000, Sun, or SGI workstation. It tells you how to start and exit the system, and covers basic mouse and menu use for Motif, the window manager currently available on the workstations. To use an RCS UNIX workstation, you will need a Rensselaer userID - available to all faculty, staff, and students - which you can obtain from the Help Desk in the Voorhees Computing Center (VCC). Please bring your Rensselaer ID card with you for identification purposes.
