To end a workstation session:
- 1.
- Quit all RCS applications which you may have running on your workstation.
- 2.
- Position the mouse on the Logout option
on the RCS Applications menu, and click the left mouse button once.
If for some reason you do not have the RCS Applications menu available, you
may use one of these two ``emergency" logout procedures:
- Issue the bye command from a UNIX window, OR
- Position the mouse cursor anywhere on the screen's background, and
press and hold down the right mouse button to bring up the background
``workspace" RCS menu. From this menu, drag the mouse cursor down to
highlight the Logout... menu option, and release the mouse button.
In either case, the workstation screen will go blank for a moment, and
eventually the Rensselaer Computing System login dialog box will
reappear.
It is very important that you log out before you
leave a workstation. If you don't, anyone can come up to the workstation
and use your files and send electronic mail in your name; the best way to
prevent this from ever happening is by always logging out.
Please, however, do not ever just power off a workstation to log out!!
