Interested in becoming an Air Force ROTC Cadet but don't know how? We have a program for you. The New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) is a voluntary four-day program held for all students interested in participating in Air Force ROTC at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. This program is an introduction to the AFROTC program as a whole, and gives students a head start on the semester, providing cadets with early access to their dorm rooms, opportunities to develop relationships with classmates, and an intimate knowledge of the campus layout all before classes even start. NSOP is held before the fall semester begins, right before Rensselaer's orientation week.
Cadets will learn basic marching, customs and courtesies, team work, and have some great fun while they are at it. Cadets will spend the four days developing their understanding of Air Force ROTC and our program. They will also get to know their class and make new friends that will last a lifetime.
NSOP 2009 will be held August 21 – 25, 2009. To attend, you must complete the five forms listed below under “Registration Material.” Additional information on the program is also provided. It is recommended that you return the NSOP registration forms by 31 July. The registration fee is $115, which should be made payable to the “cadet fund.” Your registration fee covers the cost of all meals and activities from 21-25 August.
Students must either attend RPI or one of the cross-town schools that allow students to enroll in AFROTC at RPI. However, it is not mandatory to attend NSOP to enroll in AFROTC.
