What is the plan of Study?

The Plan of Study is a dynamic planning tool for use by students and the advisors. The Plan will be used to map your course work during your undergraduate years at Rensselaer. It will allow you to focus on more than one term at a time and will be used to integrate your course work with your career plans, opportunities for study abroad, undergraduate research, researching graduate schools, etc., etc.

The Plan of Study contains the courses you will take each semester and also a number of prompts that will call your attention to many opportunities to consider while an undergraduate student at Rensselaer. All the stops on the "Map to Success" will be represented by "prompt icons". Also, icons to link to each school can be found on the far left side of the page while other sites for pre-health, pre-law, ROTC, Standard Tests, etc., will be found at the very bottom of the plan following the senior year. They will be listed under the heading "Consider These" and will give you a wealth of information on various topics that we are sure will grow over the years. We believe this information can be a very valuable tool for you when considering what options you would like to incorporate in your undergraduate experience. The intent is to raise your awareness in order for you to make intelligent and informed choices.

When you begin to work on the course aspect of the Plan of Study you should click on your school on the left side of the page. When arriving at school you should then, in most cases, click on your department followed by another click on "undergraduate curricula." (This may vary from school to school.) This will bring you to the template for your curriculum. At that point you can either use the "copy and paste" function to move your courses from the template to your plan of study or you can type the information from the template into your plan of study. You will then have the option of either printing a copy of your "Plan of Study" or emailing it to your advisor.

If you have any questions regarding the system, please email us or call us at 276-6269.
