Send
a brief letter or e-mail message to your advisees to introduce yourself
or to welcome them back after a semester. Be sure to include your office
and e-mail address, your office hours, and telephone number. Add any
other information you might feel pertinent such as the name and office
of your secretary. (Labels or e-mail addresses may be obtained from
Gail Kaiser of the CIS, extension 8281.
Be
sure that your office hours are posted for each semester. If you are
unable to be in your office during this time, leave a message as to
whom the student may see in your absence.
Prepare
for meetings with your advisees by familiarizing yourself with his or
her file. It is important to address the student by name (preferably
their first name) and make them feel welcome.
