We know the college search process can be stressful not only for students, but for their families as well. Here is some information that may be helpful to you as you help your student navigate the application process and explore what Rensselaer has to offer!
Co-ops and internships are an essential part of a Rensselaer education, and are available to students in any major. Both internships and co-ops may be set up through our Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD), where students may also begin their search for full-time employment after graduation.
Apple, GE, Google, IBM, and Nike are just a few of the companies who have hired our students for co-ops in recent years, while Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Bank of America, Cisco Systems, and United Technologies Corporation top the list of companies offering our graduates full-time employment opportunities in recent years.
Many graduates choose to continue their education both at Rensselaer and at other top schools around the nation, including CalTech, Columbia, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, MIT, and Stanford.
In addition, Rensselaer offers the Co-Terminal Program, which allows undergraduate students with strong academic records to extend their eligible financial aid and receive both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in five years.
For more information, including where our most recent graduates are working and studying, please visit the Center for Career and Professional Development website.
Rensselaer has a wide range of aid options including grants, scholarships, loans, and work programs to assist in making a Rensselaer education possible. The Office of Financial Aid staff is ready to assist you in developing a plan that will suit your individual situation.
All U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents who apply for admission are considered for merit-based scholarships. To be considered for need-based aid, both the CSS Profile and the FAFSA must be submitted. The priority filing date for both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile (for students applying Regular Decision) is February 1st.
Please note that there are no financial aid opportunities available to international students outside of the Rensselaer Medal.
The First-Year Experience
We recognize that the transition to the first year of college can be quite an adjustment to your son or daughter’s personal, academic, and social life. Our Office of the First-Year Experience is here to help both students and their families with that transition, through programs including Student Orientation, Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond, the Emerging Leaders Program, and Family Weekend. For more information about this nationally recognized program, visit the First-Year Experience website.
Programs for High School Students: Summer @ Rensselaer
