Fellowships, which are administered by departments, and in some cases by the Office of Graduate Education, are awarded after a review of the Graduate Application [PDF]. A separate fellowship application is not necessary. Outstanding students may qualify for university-supported Rensselaer Graduate Fellowship Awards, which include stipend and an academic year tuition and fee scholarship.

IGERT Fellowships

The National Science Foundation has awarded grants for the Integrated Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT), for interdisciplinary study in the following areas:

• Terahertz Science and Technology - A Studio-Based Approach
• The Engineering, Science and Entrepreneurship of Fuel Cells

Each renewable fellowship covers full tuition and provides a stipend of $30,000. To be considered, candidates must pursue Ph.D. study.

Women and minority students are especially encouraged to consider this excellent opportunity.

To apply for an IGERT fellowship:

• Obtain faculty recommendations that demonstrate your potential for success at Rensselaer and qualification for the IGERT Fellowship.
• Submit your application materials to Graduate Admissions.
• In your Statement of Background and Goals, please make it clear that you are interested in applying for an IGERT fellowship.
• Register using the IGERT registration form for either the Terahertz fellowship or the Fuel Cell fellowship.
