"The mission of Rensselaer's Campus Planning and Facilities Design Department is to provide the planning, architectural, engineering and technical services necessary to develop the facilities and infrastructure required to further the achievement of Institute goals."

CP&FD comprises a professional staff of architects, designers, engineers, project managers, and vital administrative support personnel. This team is responsible for long term strategic plans for the physical campus, and the tactical planning for individual projects, along with responsibility for the design, management and execution of those projects.   CP&FD also develops facilities policies, standards and guidelines; provides architectural and engineering technical support to other campus departments regarding facilities issues; and maintains facility and infrastructure drawings along with the campus space inventory. In addition, the institute-wide utility budget is monitored and managed along with developing, maintaining and operating the campus energy management/fire alarm system.
