About the VCC

The Voorhees Computing Center (VCC), located across from Folsom Library, is the "hub" of Academic Computing Services. The building is usually open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

In 1979, when Rensselaer decided to house its mainframe computer and peripheral equipment in what was once a chapel, the inside of the building was completely renovated while the Gothic features of the original structure were preserved.

In the VCC, you will find the following services:

Help Desk
Computer Store
Rensselaer Computer Repair (personal computer repair)
Telecommunications Office (VCC 215)
Staff Offices (directory at front entrance)
Classrooms (with workstations)

and the following equipment:

UNIX workstations
IBM PCs
Network connections for laptops
Scanners and CDWriter
Printers including operator-controlled vclw (one- or two-sided), vclbl30 (mailing labels), and vcplt (plotter) and self-service printers in VCC North and VCC South
