Sage 2704
The Sage MMPCLab, housed in Russell Sage Laboratory, Room 2704, contains 17 NCR 3331 Multimedia Learning Station/33, connected to a file server. Each 16-bit-audio equipped computer has 8 megabytes of memory, a 240MB hard drive, a 14-inch SVGA display (one has a 20-inch RasterOps color display), an Action Media II digital video player board, and a CD ROM player. These PCs are connected to the campus network. Two workstations have additional audio-visual equipment including video capture boards for preparing multimedia presentations. Printing facilities at this site include an Apple LaserWriter printer plus access to RCS printers at other locations. You must have a Rensselaer userid in order use the printers.

DOS Software, available from the server, includes:

        ARENA - Simulation program      
PC-1D - Semiconductor analysis program

Software available on specific workstations, includes:

        #2 & #4 AvkSnap - Still video capture           
Hijaak - Screen capture and image editing program       
RTVcapt - DVI Video capture
#2      ViSiO - Chemical Engineering Design

Documentation, CD-ROM caddy and ear phones are available, from the monitor on duty. You must leave a valid Rensselaer ID card, with the monitor, to use these.

This lab is open during scheduled hours. Don't forget to check for any special hours which might apply to the beginning of each semester, mid-semester breaks, or holidays. Classes are sometimes scheduled for this lab. This lab can be scheduled for classes by calling the Kim Herkert, Registrar's Office, at 276-6655.

CII Multimedia IBM PC Lab

CII 6208
The CII MMPCLab, housed in the Center for Industrial Innovation, Room 6208, contains 25 Dell 233 MHz Pentium MMX PCs, connected to a file server. You must be logged on with your RCS userid or as guest to use the programs on the server. Windows 95 is the operating system. These PCs are connected to the campus network.

Access to your files on RCS, both your Home files and RCS Public files are available on these workstations through the Samba service. You must use a valid RCS userid at login time to access your RCS files. Your Home files will appear as disk H:\ and RCS public files will appear as disk P:\ after you select the RCS Files icon.

Printing at this site is provided by connecting to RCS through the Samba service. The printer specified for the workstations at startup is the Apple LaserWriter in the room. You may select the Tektronix Phaser 200 in the room or any RCS printer for use with these machines.

Software

This lab is open during scheduled hours. Don't forget to check holiday hours. Classes are sometimes scheduled for this lab. This lab can be scheduled for classes by calling the Kim Herkert, Registrar Scheduling Office, at 276-6655.
