PATRAN 2001r2a Now Available in VCC Labs and on All RCS UNIX Workstations

Version 2001r2a of MSC/PATRAN, an engineering package that provides users with proven and robust solutions available for computer-aided modeling, analysis, optimization, and results visualization and interpretation, is now available for use on all the Windows 2000 systems in the VCC North and VCC South labs, as well as on all the RCS UNIX workstations.

This new version of the package includes several important enhancements, including:

• Quality -- Approximately 600 quality enhancements were fixed to further enhance the quality of MSC/PATRAN.

• CAE Solid Modeling -- Major new solid geometry modeling capabilities significantly enhance MSC/PATRAN's geometry modeling and modification tools

• Various strategic geometry enhancements, including curve and surface offset enhancements, additional trimmed surface editing tools, surface extension editing enhancements, and other show and create geometry enhancements.

• Significant enhancement has been implemented in the Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA and Step access products.

• ABAQUS Preference Enhancements -- These enhancements increase the interoperability with the HKS ABAQUS solver.

To access this latest version of PATRAN in the VCC North and South labs:

1. Open the Start menu, and select the Programs option.

2. Select the MSC option, then select the MSC Patran 2001r2a option from the pop-up sub-menu that appears.

To access the latest version of PATRAN on the RCS UNIX machines, issue the following command from a UNIX window:

	p3 &

Release 2001r2a of PATRAN is now the default on the RCS UNIX workstations. You will still be able to access the old version of PATRAN, PATRAN 8.0, on these machines until Monday, June 3, 2002, by entering the command setup patran-old from a UNIX prompt before running the program.
