Version 3.01 of Netscape Gold, a Web browser with a built-in HTML editor, is now available on RCS. Netscape Gold has the same functionality as Netscape Navigator, but includes an imbedded HTML editor for changing documents and storing them via the Web. (If you'd like to learn more about Navigator Gold and using HTML, you might want to consider Tom Smith's class on the subjects; for more information, please refer to the URL http://www.rpi.edu/About/Navigator/intro_class.html).
To use the new version of Netscape Gold now, enter the following commands from a UNIX prompt:
setup netscape-new
netscape
Netscape Gold will become the default on Monday, May 12, and you will no longer have to set it up. The current version, Netscape Navigator, will be available until June 12 by entering setup netscape-old from a UNIX prompt before running the program.
If you have any further questions about using Netscape Gold, please contact the consultants at the ACS Help Desk locations, or direct electronic mail to consult@rpi.edu.
