Version 6.2 of ABAQUS, a finite element solver that interfaces with other solid modelers, is now available on all the RCS IBM, SGI, and Sun UNIX workstations.
This version of ABAQUS contains significant architectural changes that provide a foundation for continued vigorous development of the program in the future. Most of the bugs that existed in previous versions have been corrected.

Please note that only the following features are licensed on all the RCS UNIX Workstations: ABAQUS/Standard, ABAQUS/Standard Parametric study, ABAQUS/Viewer, ABAQUS/CAE and ABAQUS/safe.
Also note that, since Version 6.2 is a major release of ABAQUS, restart files for ABAQUS/Standard, the output database (.odb) file, and superelement library (.sup) files are not compatible with Version 5.8. Some minor incompatibilities also exist in the input (.inp) file.
To run the new version of ABAQUS, enter the following commands at a UNIX prompt:
setup abaqus-new
abaqus &
Release 6.2 of ABAQUS will become the default on all the RCS UNIX workstations on Monday, June 03, 2002, and you will no longer have to set it up. You will still be able to access the current version of ABAQUS, Release 5.8-16, until Friday, August 09, by entering the command setup abaqus-old from a UNIX prompt before running the program.
