Abaqus 5.7 Available on IBM RCS Workstations

Version 5.7 of Abaqus, a finite element solver which interfaces with other solid modellers, is now available on the IBM RCS workstations.

The new version includes the following new features:

New definition of *AMPLITUDE option
Changes to random response input
Results file output in a datacheck analysis
User subroutine to manage external databases and exchange information with other software
Parallel processing
Linear kinematics
Fluid element overlays
Output enhancements

To run the new version of Abaqus, enter the following commands at a UNIX prompt:

     		setup abaqus-new
		abaqus &

Release 5.7 of Abaqus will become the default on the IBM workstations on Wednesday, July 15, and you will no longer have to set it up. You will still be able to access the current version of Abaqus, Release 5.4, until Friday, August 14, by entering the command setup abaqus-old from a UNIX prompt before running the program.
