If you rent extra disk space and do not plan to use the RCS system during the summer, you can save yourself some money by cancelling your disk rental while you're away. (You will first need to free up your disk space by deleting or compressing your files.) Disk space currently costs 25 cents per megabyte per month for up to 50MB; each additional megabyte over 50MB costs 15 cents per megabyte per month.
To check your account quota, enter the RCS command fs lq from a UNIX prompt. In the information that appears, look at the percentage in the %Used column. This figure indicates how much of your home directory disk space you've used. Please note that the Partition percentage does not indicate the percentage you've used of your quota; that figure refers to the used percentage of the entire AFS disk partition you share with other users.
To set your home directory back to the size originally assigned to you, enter the command quota_request -quota 25 at a UNIX prompt. (You must first reduce your usage to that level or less; otherwise, your request will be rejected.)
To set your quota to some other size, enter the command quota_request -quota #, replacing the pound sign (#) with the total number of megabytes you want in your disk space.
