Libraries Offer Trial Access to Several New Databases
Libraries Offer Trial Access to Several New Databases
Through the end of the spring semester, the Libraries are offering users
trial access to a number of new databases that will supplement current
electronic resources.
- netLibrary is the largest on-line library of eBooks, which are electronic
versions of printed books. They have the same information, are enriched with
photos and illustrations, and can be viewed on-line from any computer connected
to the Internet. With netLibrary's technology, you can not only search titles,
authors and keywords, but the entire text of any eBook so that you can
instantly pinpoint the exact information you need.
- Statistical Universe is a companion product to the Academic Universe
database from Lexus/Nexus. It allows a user to search an index to over 100,000
statistical publications, both U.S. and international, or to search the on-line
version of some of the most popular U.S. government reference publications.
- The American National Biography (ANB) offers information on more
than 17,400 men and women, from all eras and all disciplines, who made
significant contributions to American history. The ANB is the first
biographical resource of this scope to be published in more than sixty years.
- The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) has been called "the greatest
work in dictionary making ever undertaken". The undisputed authority on the
history and development of the English language, it provides a unique source
of information on the evolution of words and meanings, from the earliest times
to the present day.
You can access all of these resources by first clicking on the Databases
link on the Libraries' main RensSearch homepage, and then clicking on the
