Students who will be graduating next month should note that their RCS accounts are scheduled to expire on Friday, June 30. (Students should receive e-mail notification prior to their account's expiration.)
Graduating students may choose to forward their mail from their current e-mail address to another one for up to six months. However, they must do so before June 30.
You can forward your mail in one of two ways: either on UNIX, or via the Web. For more information on both of these methods, select the Academic Computing Services link from the main RPInfo homepage, and then select the Electronic mail and Forwarding Your Mail links.
Graduates may obtain a permanent e-mail address by going to Rensselaer's alumni homepage, located at the URL http://www.alum.rpi.edu, and selecting the "E-Mail for Life" link. The system will prompt you to fill out an alumni verification form. Once you have been verified as an alum, you may select your userid; you will receive confirmation of your e-mail address and password.
Users who have questions about "E-Mail for Life" should direct electronic mail to support@rpi.edu.
As a final note, if you plan to graduate, or will be away for the summer, please read the article "Disk Space Reminder," for information on how to reduce your disk space and save on the related charges. (Note that you will continue to be charged for extra disk space, even if you do not use it, until your account expires.) And if you have any project or research files that others will need to use after you leave Rensselaer, make sure to move or copy the files to a locker or some other space that other users can access after your account expires. Remember, once your account expires, you cannot access the files there!
